Dr. Dorothy Hoppe was born in Poland and moved to the US at the age of 9. She spent most of her life in Florida.
Dr. Hoppe received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from New College in Sarasota, FL. After completing an initial year of medical school at the University of Florida, she realized veterinary medicine was her calling. Dr. Hoppe worked as a veterinary technician for several years and graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She completed a one-year internship at East Bay Veterinary Specialists in Walnut Creek, CA, with a focus on small animal medicine, surgery and emergency services. She served as an emergency clinician at EBVS before joining the Pets Unlimited (now SF SPCA) team in August 2012. Dr. Hoppe has special interests in emergency and critical care, surgery and ultrasonography.
Her personal interests include travel, good fiction, interior design, trying not to kill her rooftop garden and water sports. Dr. Hoppe lives in San Francisco and shares her home with her sister (also a veterinarian) and a small herd of cats.
